Mushwani is the name of tribes in West Afghanistan found mainly in Herat, Farah and Badghis provinces of Afghanistan. These people are nomadic and always use original wool fibers. The colours on Mushwani kilims are mainly dark Red, and Blue. The tribal Mushwani kilims feature designs that have been woven for centuries by tribes in the mountains of central Afghanistan. Mushwani kilims are unique because the rug pattern combines both kilim and rug pile creating a relief surface detail as well as the contrasting coloured pattern and motifs.
