The word Gabbeh translates to ‘unfinished or unclipped’. When making these rugs the weavers leave the pile long. Initially this type of rug was used as a sleeping rug or blanket. Our production of Gabbeh also includes Natural Gabbeh in which the various shades of undyed yarns create the pattern. The colours range from various intensities of ivory, beiges, browns and greys. A recent development has been the introduction of our ‘Retro Gabbeh’ displaying more contemporary patterns in unusual colour combinations.
