Description
Abshar rugs inspired by traditional Ancient Eygyptian Mamluk, Old Afghan and Persian patterns now made by Afghan weavers in vibrant colour palettes for modern living. Thick hand knots make the rugs very soft, almost fluffy and pliable in feel.
Made by weavers in Aqchae and Andkhoy, both cities located in the Northern regions of Afghanistan. These rugs are inspired by traditional Ancient Eygyptian Mamluk, Old Afghan and Persian patterns now revived by our Afghan weavers in newer more vibrant colour palettes for modern living.
The handspun wool is dyed using traditional vegetable and local dye recipes before the wool pile is knotted onto a woollen warp. Because these are all wool with thick knots the rugs are very soft, almost fluffy and pliable in feel.
